We wanted to create something truly special to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the BIOEFFECT and our award-winning EGF Serum. Something that our customers could really cherish and proudly display in their home.
Therefore, we approached world-renowned Icelandic artist Shoplifter / Hrafnhildur Arnardottir and asked her to collaborate with us on this project. She is no stranger to BIOEFFECT, having created an exclusive box design for the EGF Serum
5-Year Anniversary in 2015. The end result is a true art piece; a gorgeous bottle nestled in a unique sculpture.
5-Year Anniversary in 2015. The end result is a true art piece; a gorgeous bottle nestled in a unique sculpture.
As an artist, Shoplifter draws inspiration from nature for much of her work which is in alignment with the overall vision of BIOEFFECT. “When designing the bottle, I wanted to reference the science and it is almost medicinal but with drops carved into the solid glass body to reference the EGF Serum. I knew I didn’t want a plain, clear glass. It has a sheen that is iridescent and brings the glory of all colors - it makes more like an object of magical effect,” she says.
Shoplifter’s amazing and ambitious vision for the bottle meant we needed an innovative producer. We first collaborated with Pochet du Courval in 2015 for the beautiful, pink 5-year anniversary Limited Edition. The company has over four centuries of glass-making experience and innovation, as well as worldwide customers in luxury fragrance and cosmetics. Their signature is exceptionally pure glass, enhanced by an unparalleled mastery of external and interior shapes, complemented by a wide range of finishes.
The bottle sits in a sculpture made from cold-cast resin and references elements of Icelandic nature; black sand beaches, new lava, obsidian, and black barley. “The barley the Limited Edition is produced in is black in color so I immediately knew that would be the starting point. The barley plants are also grown in volcanic pumice, a form of lava, instead of soil, which made me think of obsidian. Obsidian is naturally occurring volcanic glass found here in Iceland. It can be polished and made into mirrors, an inspiring fact when designing a skincare product. Obsidian also has an iridescent sheen to it that inspired the look of the bottle while its blackness is expressed in the sculptural stand,” says Shoplifter.
